A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE
A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE formed the second act of a very successful 1979 West End Show which transferred to Broadway in 1980.
The first act, A Day in Hollywood, was a musical revue set in the lobby of Grauman's Chinese Theatre to a mixture of Broadway tunes. However eleven of that year's Tony nominations and two Tony Awards went to A Night in the Ukraine, a pastiche of Chekhov's one-act play 'The Bear', which features thinly disguised Marx Brothers invading a bastion of the privileged classes.
